Easy White Bread Recipe!
Yields 2. This recipe leaves a crunchy outside with soft, fluffy inside.
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cup warm water
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 1/4 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 tablespoons oil ( I prefer EVOO, but this is optional)
- 6 1/4 cups of flour
Instructions:
Add warm water (but not scalding), honey and yeast together and stir slightly. Set this aside for about 5-10 minutes until it begins to rise. In a large bowl (or Kitchen Aid if you have one) add yeast mixture, salt, oil and 3 cups of the flour. Mix. Then add one cup at a time of the remaining flour and mix. Knead for about 8-10 minutes by hand (I actually prefer this method), but you can also use your mixer for about 5 minutes).
Add some oil to the bowl and turn the dough over a few times to coat the entire outside of the dough. Cover and allow to rise double in size (around 1-2 hours). I like to cover with parchment paper and a clean kitchen towel and sit it in the oven (on off of course).
After it has risen, shape the bread inot 2 loaves and place in 9×5 inch greased bread pans. Cover again and allow to rise until double in size like before. It should only take about 30-45 minutes this time.
Bake on 375 degrees for 30-5 minutes (ovens vary so keep an eye on it). Brush a light coat of butter on the top of the bread and allow the bread to sit in the pan for 5-10 minutes. Then remove from pan and set on a wire rack to cool.
